I left work at Chulmleigh Primary School, where I was teaching guitar that day, at 4pm. I was traveling in my new to me Y reg Land Rover Freelander that I had purchased from Robins Garages, Ilfracombe, only two weeks previously. I was listening to my 5live podcasts. Approaching junction 19 on the M5, I noticed a whining noise from the vehicle, then a burning oil smell. I felt it would be a good idea to get off the motorway to investigate the noise. I found a safe place to stop, then called Robins Garages. Paul Yabsley, the owner of the garage and person whom sold the Freelander to me, answered the phone. It is now 5.55pm.
It turned out to be the differential on the Freelander that had broken. Unfortunate, and unforeseen. It was good that I had stopped. Unfortunate I missed the gig.
Paul went to extraordinary lengths to get me home at his expense. The car is now being fixed on the three month guarantee. I wish to take the opportunity to say thank you to Paul. He was amazing on Monday, and he was not feeling to well either. I really appreciate what he did for me.
