Yesterday I found myself in something of a health and safety at work dilemma. I was placed into a small room, in a new part of the school recently built. Being alone with a child in a room means leaving the door open to protect the child and one's self from any allegations of any wrong doing. On this occasion however, the said door was a fire door. Now, as we all know, fire doors should be kept closed at all times.
I discussed the matter with a member of school staff, and it was decided to leave the door open, because if there was a fire, the door would have to be opened to get out of the building anyway.
What would you have done?
